So for those of you wondering why I've posted exactly 0 cosplay pictures from con or otherwise, right after getting home, I got a pretty bad sore throat. I've been having problems with tonsil infections for about 3 years, and unfortunately my insurance is pretty stingy about covering tonsillectomy unless the infection is dire. I went to my doctor, and even though I was in severe pain she didn't seem very concerned. She told me to gargle salt water and wait for it to go away. I got better after a week, but it only lasted for a day (long enough to have a fun weekend with TheHorridHatter, which I will post pictures of soon) before one of my tonsils puffed up to the size of a strawberry, and every time I swallow it feels like I'm being stabbed in my throat.
So I tried to get an appointment with my doctor on short notice but they turned me away so I ended up going to the urgent care. The doctor there took one look inside my ear and gasped because apparently my inner ear is extremely swollen and infected. She looked inside my mouth and pressed on my tonsil and it squirted on her finger. Apparently as well, all of the lymph nodes in my body are extremely swollen. Apparently I have a pretty severe bacterial infection that has spread because I didn't get antibiotics from my first visit.
The urgent care doctor prescribed me 875mg of Amoxicillian (standard dose is 500mg even with something like strep), a very high dose of an immune steroid, Vicodin and lidocaine to gargle. Yes. It hurts that badly. ;;
Unfortunately, she worries that if I've developed a pus pocket in my tonsil (which she suspects I have), the antibiotics won't work and in that case I'll need to get them taken out right away. The next time this happens, if it happens within the next year, I'll FINALLY be able to have them taken out.
That's all that's new with me unfortunately. I'm just glad I got to have some fun before the pain set back in and school really starts getting time consuming.
Well wishes are appreciated~
Thankfully though, I am feeling a teensy bit better. And I am very lucky that even though I feel very crappy, I have a wonderful partner that is the best cheerleader in the entire world. He makes sure I take my medicine and he even helps me get ready and tags along with me to school so that I don't fall behind... He's been really wonderful. At one point I was even considering not going to the Urgent Care I felt so awful and he was the one who pushed me out the door to get to the doctors and get help. Thank you for being such a good sport, letting me sleep in, cleaning up after me, fetching me pillows and putting socks on my toesies , GayMenDancing. I LOVE YOU
